When thousands of people poured onto Crystal Beach for the July 4th weekend, it quickly became clear that local emergency resources would be stretched thin. The Crystal Beach Force Multiplier, a coordinated deployment led by TEXSAR, was launched to support first responders and manage the surge in emergencies. It wasn’t just a busy weekend… it was a situation that called for reinforcements.
That’s where TEXSAR stepped in. And that’s where GPI Defense chose to stand alongside them.
Each year, Crystal Beach sees a dramatic influx of visitors for Independence Day celebrations. While the crowds are expected, the level of emergency incidents can quickly exceed what local responders can manage on their own.
To fill the gap, TEXSAR – a volunteer-led first responder nonprofit based in Austin – launched a “force multiplier” deployment.
They aim to assist local law enforcement, provide emergency support, and ensure the safety of beachgoers through ground response, fire mitigation, and medical assistance.
From July 4 to July 6, GPI Defense donated equipment and personnel to support this deployment. At no cost to anyone involved, we lent out our security UTV – often referred to as “The Tank” – and approved time off for Captain Lisa Iturri to volunteer onsite with TEXSAR.
This wasn’t just a symbolic act. The Tank was actively used to:
Every action, every mile driven, and every call answered was a part of the larger effort to keep people safe.
Emergency response is not just about showing up when something goes wrong. It’s about coordination, preparedness, and trust between agencies and private partners.
When public infrastructure is overwhelmed, the value of reliable private support becomes crystal clear.
This kind of situation highlights why GPI Defense prioritizes long-term partnerships with municipalities, law enforcement, and emergency management agencies.
We don’t just provide security… we provide support that adapts to real-world demands, whether that’s an oilfield in West Texas, a construction site in Dallas, or a beachfront holiday weekend in Galveston County.
TEXSAR (Texas Search and Rescue) is a nonprofit made up of trained volunteers who deploy across all 254 Texas counties. From ground search and swift water rescues to disaster logistics and UAV support, they’re built for moments like these.
Our collaboration with TEXSAR wasn’t just about plugging a gap….
It was about supporting an organization whose mission aligns with ours: serve the people of Texas when it matters most.
For many, the July 4th weekend was about celebration.
For the boots on the ground in Crystal Beach, it was also about service… often under intense pressure.
When you operate in the security industry, moments like this are reminders that readiness isn’t optional.
GPI Defense is proud to be the kind of partner that shows up – with gear, with people, and with a commitment to doing what’s right even when no one’s watching.
Because when the stakes are high and the support is thin, the question isn’t whether it’s convenient. The question is whether you’re ready.
“At GPI Defense, we protect more than just property… we actually safeguard your business from financial risks, theft, and legal liabilities.”
